EPConsult Energies conducted a pre-feasibility study for the development of an offshore wind farm in the waters of Gulf-region country for a wind farm developer. EPEn developed the first comprehensive pre-feasibility study in this country, which includes a concept outline, including turbine and support structure selection, cable, landfall and substation requirements, ports and logistics requirements, and site selection and screening; an initial risk and opportunities assessment; initial new technologies assessment; an preliminary high-level levelized cost of energy study; a wind, wave and geotechnical data gathering strategy, an ESIA strategy, and a project execution strategy; a supply chain assessment and contracting strategy; and an outline development plan and schedule. The outcome of the study suggests this Gulf-region country has a potential to develop offshore wind energy.
